About the production
It’s the most wonderful time of the year … Not for the old miser and moneylender Ebenezer Scrooge. He doesn’t just hate Christmas, the singing in the streets and people asking for charity get on his nerves too. Christmas, the “season of love”? Humbug!
Nor is he moved when a woman asks for more time to repay her loan. Or when his employee Bob Cratchit would rather spend Christmas with his sick son than work. Or when his niece Caroline invites him to celebrate Christmas with her, as she does every year.
But enough is enough. Scrooge’s late business partner Marley, who was every bit as grumpy and miserly in life as Scrooge himself, appears to warn him: anyone who goes through life caring only about themselves will find no peace even after death. But for Scrooge, it is not too late.
Marley sends him three spirits: the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. They show Scrooge the consequences of his actions and remind him how important it is to care for others and take responsibility for the world around him. Can a little ghostly magic really melt the old grouch’s heart?
Following «Der Richter und sein Henker», director Ronny Jakubaschk returns to the Luzerner Theater with his second production: colourful, visually striking, quirky and musical.
